From Rescuing Fruit to Feeding People
NW Fruit Rescue began with a simple idea: good food should not go to waste when people in our community need it.
That idea started with rescuing surplus fruit and getting it to local food banks. Over time, we saw another opportunity: use the same spirit of resourcefulness to turn affordable, donated and rescued ingredients into nutritious, shelf-stable dry stew mixes.
That idea became Nobody Goes Hungry.
The Mission Grew. The Principle Stayed the Same.
Fruit rescue taught us something important: communities often have resources that are not being fully used. The challenge is connecting those resources with people who need them.
With Nobody Goes Hungry, that same principle now extends beyond rescued fruit. We now efficiently produce shelf-stable dry stew mixes and distribute them through existing hunger-relief organizations.
The food changed. The principle didn't: make the most of available resources to feed more people.
What We Learned Along the Way
Good resources are often already present in a community. The opportunity is finding practical ways to put them to work.
USE WHAT'S AVAILABLE
Simple processes, bulk ingredients and volunteer labor can produce meaningful results without unnecessary complexity.
KEEP IT SIMPLE
WORK TOGETHER
Food donors, volunteers, community organizations and hunger-relief agencies each contribute something different.
Those lessons became the foundation of Nobody Goes Hungry.
